Down in New Orleans

This past week, I was afforded the opportunity to travel to New Orleans accompanying Centennial Children’s Chorus. In that unique city, there is something to be appreciated by any personality of any profession. New Orleans’ history is long and rich, its nature is unique and fascinating, and its nightlife is celebratory and vivacious. However, as a musician with a strong passion for jazz, most unique to me is the city’s musical culture. One evening, I went for a walk around the town, and near Jackson Square I was able to stop and hear four different bands simultaneously, creating a cacophony of culture which converged on this one unique and colorful city. Although it was not my first visit to the birthplace of jazz, this trip was as memorable to me as any other. Check out my YouTube channel for a newly published recording celebrating the wonderful world of jazz music-making, and remain as inspired to live life with spirit and spontaneity as the “cats” of New Orleans!
